It will take a couple of weeks to get all of our websites and passwords sorted for the year. As we get them we will write username and passwords in planners. This year should be easier with the addition of ‘ClassLink’ coming out for students so they don’t have to remember a million different websites, passwords, etc. J
www.thinkcentral.com – the one stop shop for our Reading, Math and Science textbooks.
www.newsela.com – I love it. We use it frequently in the classroom. Log-in and passwords will be in the front of their planners.
www.ixl.com –Excellent quick practice for Language and Math. Log-in and passwords will be in the front of planners
Duolingo – Perfect free app for learning a 2nd language. I use it from time to time to practice my Spanish.
www.khanacademy.org – set up a free account at home. K-12 and college prep classes. J Adults may love it as much as kids.
www.thinkcentral.com for textbooks, workbooks and lessons. The Carmen SanDiego icon is good for lessons and practice.
http://www.oswego.org/ocsd-web/games/Mathmagician/cathymath.html - good for math facts practice. On paper, students should be able to answer 50 math facts in under 4 min.
www.sumdog.com – another math website that kids have a lot of fun with. Log-in and passwords are in planners.
Typing –I suggest http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/typing/ Have them do each level 3 times before moving on.
Just a few more things......
Cursive – It’s a dying art form that I still want to see my students practicing. I will have them practice it during morning work from time to time.
Shoes – Students have PE or recess everyday so please have them wear appropriate shoes.
Birthdays – If you would like to bring in cupcakes or treats for your child, please bring them during our lunch time 12:22-12:52
Transportation changes – new this year – you may email any transportation changes before 2:00 to Mrs. Schermahorn SchermerhornT@santarosa.k12.fl.us BUT you have to follow it up with a phone call to her to make it official and safe for our students. 934-5160.
