Procedure Guidelines for OBE Families
When your child must miss school....
Attendance is so important for students' success. When your student cannot come to school due to illness of some sort, please notify the school and/or the child's teacher the day of the absence if at all possible. When your child returns to school, please send a note with your child explaining the illness so the records will reflect an excused absence. Work that is missed will be allowed to be made up but must be done in a timely manner. Contact your student's teacher for more information on make-up policies.
Transportation Changes for your child
Transportation change during the school day
Important: Please make sure you follow up your email with a phone call immediately to the office (850) 934-5160 to ensure receipt of your request and to verify that you are the custodial parent/guardian. **If you do not confirm via phone, your child will go home the normal way.** We accept dismissal changes up until 2:00 PM.
For student safety, your email must come from the email that the school has on record and must include:
.* Your full name/relationship to child
* Child’s full name
* Child’s grade and teacher’s name
* Child’s normal mode of transportation
*Details of new method of transportation including: dates valid, who/where (bus #, daycare name, or car rider line).
Please be very specific as to dates and destinations, including exact street addresses and bus number (for example, “grandma’s house” is not sufficient).
Parent Involvement = Volunteering
We love our parent volunteers! There are many different ways you can volunteer. At OBE, parents are our partners in the education of our students. Contact the school to find out where your time can be best utilized.
Our volunteer form can be found here. You do not have to be a parent to volunteer but all potential volunteers are subjected to a background check for the safety of our students. Volunteer orientation for this year is will be held early in the school year so be on the look out for an announcement about this meeting!
Our district website has more info on volunteering.
Car Rider Drop off and Pick Up procedures:
Drivers should come to a complete stop before allowing your children to exit or enter the vehicle.
To make this process go smoothly and avoid delaying the entire car rider line, please make sure your child is ready to exit your car as soon as you pull up. Parents may not drop off their children in any area except the designated car rider line. Children may not walk alone from the parking lot to the school entrance. Parents please stay in the car at all times during drop-off and pick-up. If your child is tardy, you must sign him/her in at the front office. We ask that you REFRAIN FROM USING your CELL PHONES IN THE CAR RIDER LINE to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
Drop-off begins at 7:55
· The first bell rings at 8:15 and children report to their classrooms. Remember after 8:25 you will need to park, walk your child in, and sign them in at the front office
