ATTENTION 3rd, 4th & 5th GRADERS
The Junior Optimist Alpha Club is inviting ALL past members and ANY 3rd, 4th or 5th grader
who would like to join JOAC to our first meeting November 3th at 7:15 AM in the OBE Library
(doors open at 7:00).
The JOAC is a service organization that focuses on empowering our youth to better themselves
and the community around them. OBE is the only elementary school in NW Florida that offers
an Optimist Club! Our club meets once a month. We will have ongoing service projects
throughout the year like Pop Top collections for the Ronald McDonald House, and Caring and
Sharing during the Holiday season.
There are only a few requirements that we ask of each member:
1. Do your best to attend monthly meetings (each member is asked to bring $1.00 to each
meeting to pay for their dues)
2. Participate in as many service projects as you are able (all held at OBE)
3. Agree to follow the Optimist Creed to the best of your ability
Optimist Club parent information:
Parents, there is a registration fee for each child of $10.00. If your child would like to join the
Optimist Club and are unable to pay for the registration or the t-shirt at this time, please let
me know, we would like to help in this matter. We do not want finances to hinder any child’s
participation.
Please make checks payable to OBE JOAC. Cash is also accepted.

Cut and Keep:
The Optimist Creed
Promise Yourself
To be strong so that nothing can disturb your peace of mind
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them
To look at the sunny side of everything & make your optimism come true
To think only the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future
To always wear a cheerful countenance and give every living creature you meet a smile
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble
