OBE Military Families!!

We are so excited about April and using it as a time to honor and celebrate our military kiddos. We all know firsthand, military children are tough and

amazing. Military kids have to make sacrifices and adapt to transitions, and we are excited to recognize them during the Month of the Military Child.

April is a time for us to celebrate their resiliency and strength. It is a time for us to show them just how appreciated they are. OBE has about 100

children who have parents who are active duty, reserve, guard, or recently retired and we can’t wait to celebrate and recognize each one of them. I

have several parents working with me this year to help make this our biggest celebration yet.

Family Activity

OBE has a lot of fun things planned to celebrate your military children. We will start with a family activity to create a bulletin board. We are going to

create a large American flag made with your child’s traced handprint. This activity will be a fun way to spend some time with your child. Included

with this letter is a piece of construction paper. Trace your child’s hand and cut it out. You can then work with your child to decorate it however they

want (words, pictures, and/or art). The theme this year is “What I like about being a military kid.” Take this activity as a time to talk to your kids about

what they like about being a military kiddo. Use this as an opportunity to talk about their feelings and pride about being a military family and

kid. Please send these works of art back to school with your child by Thursday April 14, 2022; we want to get the board put together before we Purple

Up on April 20th.

Purple Up Day

This year OBE will also be celebrating PURPLE UP DAY on Wednesday April 20! OBE has students from all service branches. Purple combines each

branch’s colors into one. Purple is a reminder that no matter what branch your family serves in we are celebrating each and every child for their

greatness. On April 20, we are all going to encourage everyone to wear some purple to celebrate our military kids. This is going to be a fun day to

recognize our military kids and remind them just how much they mean to all of us at OBE.

We know how special our OBE military children are and this month is a time to remind them of this. We are excited for this month and hope your

child is honored and appreciated in a way they deserve. Thank you to all our military families and thank you for helping to make this month all about

recognizing our amazing military kids.
